A fantastic day was had by all in the Women’s Memorial Day.  The format is a unique version of House of Cards, here’s how it works:

King = 3 scores count

Queen = 2 scores count

Jack = 1 score counts

Joker is double

The twist?  Instead assigning cards to specific holes, teams drew their playing cards back at the clubhouse. No one knew which scores would count until the cards were drawn and calculated.  Congratulations to the winning team, Michele Tyson, Jill Corbett & Jan Seabrook with 105 points.  2nd were Lynne Henshaw, Liz Steedman and Bernice Lowe.

£107 was raised for the Rocking Horse charity.  Well done Ladies.

Held at Dyke GC on Sunday 3 August with 24 of our members trying to retain the shield for West Hove.  B  If you don’t know how this competition works, we have 24 players playing individual stableford with only the best 12 scores counting.

The Dyke on home ground came up trumps on the day winning by only 2 shots.  West Hove’s total score of 429 was edged out by the Dyke on 431.  An incredible day nevertheless and well done Dyke GC.

The individual stableford was superb with our own Mark Cronin shooting a fantastic 43 points and winning the trophy.  Well done Mark.  Scratch medal was won by Dyke Vice Captain Craig Millyard, shooting a magnificent 72 on his home course.  Other great scores from West Hove: Geoff Pook with 41, David Gillies with 36, Tim Ingram with 39 and Ray Pook & Gavin Phillips both with 36 points.

The Championship was held at the Dyke on Monday 28th July.

The competition is run over two rounds of medal with prizes awarded for Scratch, U15 and Nett. The overall result for Junior County Scratch Champion was very, very close with three girls separated by only one stroke.

3rd place: Olivia Corbin from Chichester with a total score of 163.

Junior Girl County Nett Champion:
1st place: Ella Mansfield with a nett score of 128,
Runner up: Amelie Knight (Royal Eastbourne) with a nett total score of 135
3rd place: Elena Teubler with a nett total score of 141.

Well done to all the girls who played and huge congratulations to Ella, who displayed some fantastic golf.

West Hove was already proud to have Darci Lewis-Bradbury as our Junior Captain, an incredibly talented golfer playing off a 1.3 handicap index at 15 years old. Now Darci has completed an outstanding playing performance at West Sussex GC where the Ladies County Championships were held.

Darci qualified in style as the winner of the Stobart Cup Scratch Trophy with a Gross 141 which meant she took home the two major trophies at the championship.

In the championship match Darci took a lead of 4 up at the turn with her opponent pulling it back to 2 down before Darci extended her lead with both her chipping and putting proving difficult to beat. Well played Darci, West Hove Golf Club are both proud and lucky to have you as a member.
