West Hove Golf Club Pro-Am Report . . .
Cottesmore GC Professional Chris Croucher Triumphs in the WHGC Pro-Am Event.
West Hove Golf Club Pro-Am delivered a magnificent event for the club on Wednesday 21 August, the weather was splendid and the course was in near perfect condition after the recent rain which encouraged a low scoring event.
Cottesmore GC Professional Chris Croucher recorded an excellent round of 65 to win the Professional event by 2 shots.
A packed entry list of 22 teams lined up to compete for team and individual prizes provided by the club. Thanks goes to our main sponsor, Jack Smith Estate Agents and all the team entries mentioned below for their generosity and support in making the day so memorable.
Each team of 4 included a PGA professional from the South region, and in addition to Chris Croucher’s fantastic score of 65 there were also PGA Professional scores of 67, 68 and 69 recorded, please visit https://pgagbi.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/pgagbi19/event/pgagbi19413/contest/1/leaderboard.htm to see all the scores ( Professional & Team Scores ).
The main event was won by the Town & Country Team which consisted of Michael Arthur, Mark Cronin, Paul Chipp partnered by Professional Chris Croucher with a team score of -20 ( 120 best 2 scores from 4 strokeplay format). They were followed into second place by Professional Tom Coulson’s team comprising of Megan Bibby, Tanya Bibby and Dean Bibby who scorded an impressive -18.
In his winner’s speech, Chris Croucher commended the Club on the organisation of the day, superb condition of the course and promised to return next year to defend his title (form an orderly queue for 2020 please!).
David Gillies (West Hove Club Captain) was a very proud man presenting the prizes alongside Richard Cudlip of the PGA South Region and thanked all of the sponsors, the PGA South Region and his team at West Hove for their support given during and leading up to the day to make such a successful event.
The main purpose of the event is to raise funds for The Captain’s Charity, David’s chosen charity is Albion In The Community, Football For People With Autism. Emma from the charity assisted and helped with the event all day, nothing was ever too much trouble always happy to help. David had invited to the evening meal two beneficiaries of the charity Ryan Sammer and his mum Leanne – Ryan and Leanne told the audience how Football For People With Autism has had such a positive impact on Ryan’s life – it was fantastic to hear the beneficial work being done.
We are indebted to the following sponsors, members and team entries for making the day such a great success:
