A note of thanks from the Club Captain - David Gillies

A big thanks to everyone who came to the Farewell Party on Saturday. I hope you enjoyed yourselves and dancing to the Soultastics. Debbie, Nick, Laura, Jordan, Jane and Ruby did us proud with a wonderful meal and we are lucky to have such great bar staff in Hannah and Michelle ( who did a conga at one stage during the night!) Jodie and Collette. It was a great turnout and a fitting finale to the year. We were also able to surprise one of our members, Rita Hedderman and celebrate her birthday which was an added bonus!

I was delighted to have the opportunity to pay tribute to my fellow Captains;  Martin Hopkin Seniors Captain who has done a great job, Megan Bibby, the Ladies Captain who has had an exceptional year and raised a truly extraordinary amount for St Barnabas and  to our Junior section which continues to thrive thanks to Sam Liddle and under the Captaincy of Jasper Whiston.

I was also delighted to have two of the beneficiaries of my Captain’s Charity at the party, Leanne Sammers and her son Ryan. We were able to announce that we are on course to raise £16,000 for Football for People with Autism. This is something I am very proud of and a big thanks to James Ross our Club Sponsors and his wife Anna who have been so generous in their support to our charities and to all the members who have contributed over the year. Thanks also to Jane Edwards our Events Manager for putting on such a great Farewell, to Karen Dobson for her  fantastic support and of course to the legend that is Gary Salt our General Manager who has been such a massive support to me. It was also lovely to have Norman Milburn a past Captain present some beautiful flowers to my wife Jacinta (Jas)on behalf of the Club. Jas could not have been more supportive.

Not long now before I become a past Captain......... and I am really looking forward to Steve Thatcher’s year. Steve has been a great Vice-Captain and  I hope to see you at his Drive-in this Sunday 24th November at 2pm. Should be fun!

Thank you everyone for a really enjoyable year. Some great photos below.
